scope1.1 these requirements cover enclosed industrial control equipment and associated components intended for starting, stopping, regulating, controlling, or protecting electric motors or other electrical loads including refrigeration equipment, having a-c voltage ratings in the range of 2.2 - 2.5 or 4.0 - 5.0 kv or 6.2 - 7.2 kv. 1.2 these requirements cover equipment intended for use in ordinary locations in accordance with the national electrical code. 1.3 these requirements, as modified by the standard for centrifugal fire pumps, nfpa 20, also cover fire pump controllers. 1.4 these requirements do not cover electronic or static devices, circuits, or systems. 1.5 these requirements do not cover the internal construction of electrical instruments (such as meters), or equipment for use in hazardous locations as defined in the national electrical code. 1.6 a product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different from those covered by the requirements in this standard, and that involves a risk of fire or of electric shock or injury to persons shall be evaluated using appropriate additional component and end-product requirements to maintain the level of safety as originally anticipated by the intent of this standard. a product whose features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems conflict with specific requirements or provisions of this standard does not comply with this standard. revision of requirements shall be proposed and adopted in conformance with the methods employed for development, revision, and implementation of this standard. 1.6 revised october 26, 2000
